There are thousands of varieties of avocados. But today, the Hass variety represents 95% of the total California production and an estimated 85% worldwide.
Avocados are cholesterol and sodium free. They’re nutrient-dense in dietary fiber, vitamin B6, anti-oxidants vitamin C, vitamin E, nutrients and minerals such as potassium and folate. Avocados contain unsaturated fats that help to lower blood cholesterol. The avocado is also loaded with phytonutrients, which are natural plant substances that work with nutrients and dietary fiber to help fight chronic illnesses, such as heart disease and cancer.
