They're truly thousands of varieties of avocados. But today, the Hass variety represents 98% of the total California production and an estimated 85% worldwide.  Calavo distributes the three most popular varieties throughout the year: Hass, Lamb Hass and Pinkerton.  For specifics on each of these varieties, see below.

• Large sizes – 32’s, 28’s and 24’s
   
• Good shipping, storage and shelf life
   
• Responds well to ethylene conditioning

• Pear-shaped with a long neck
   
• Medium thick, pebbly green skin
   
• Small seed with pulp color and texture similar to Hass 
   
• Rich flavor 
   
• Range of sizes averaging 48 to 24 count 
   
• Skin darkens in appearance when ripe
   
• Yields to gentle pressure when ripe 
   
• Excellent shipping, storage and shelf life 
   
• Responds well to ethylene conditioning and is recommended in early season
