Increasing retail category sales for avocados begin with avocados that are ripe and ready to eat. Calavo is committed to assisting our customers in growing their avocado category by providing a consistent, pre-conditioned avocado program that features options and flexibility without burdensome costs.

Driven by consumer demand and preference for ripe avocados by more than 3 to 1, Calavo has expanded with new ripening centers in New Jersey and Texas in addition to two existing centers in California.

All of these centers pre-condition avocados in state-of-the-art Thermal Tech forced-air ripening rooms designed specifically for avocados. Zone heating and cooling within each room provides optimum temperature control that maintains the consistency of avocados at various stages of ripeness, thus providing greater flexibility for our customer’s needs.

Additionally, our exclusive ProRipeVIP® program which measures the entire avocado down to the seed utilizing sound wave technology, is available through our Santa Paula, CA, San Antonio, TX, and Swedesboro, NJ value added depots.

Even with the variety of standard and custom ripening programs Calavo makes available to it’s customers, we realize some may wish to pre-condition fruit on their own. Because we know avocado ripening can be challenging due to seasonality and country of origin, we have made our Avocado Ripening and Handling Manual available upon request.

For your copy, or for more information on developing a pre-conditioning or ripening program that works for you, contact your Calavo sales representative, Rob Wedin, VP Fresh Sales, or Juan Betancourt, ProRipeVIP ® Manager at 1-805-525-1245 or 1-866-RipeNow!®.
